Greetings:

There have been some changes this year that I thought I should address……………

As most of you are aware we have a new Ag facility that will make many things easier for us.   If you so chose you may use it to wash and clip your animals whenever you wish.  We will have a coded door lock system that will allow each family to have access.

A few things that will be different:

The Fort Elliott local show will be held on Sunday afternoon Jan 10 at 2:00 PM, this is pretty much set in stone. I already have a judge.  Hopefully this will allow more family to attend.

We will still need to move our animals (mainly the pigs) into Wheeler Thursday afternoon Jan 14 before Wheeler has their local, probably by 5:00.

As far as I know the rest the county schedule is the same as every year.

We will hold our Swine Jackpot on Dec. 13th.

I plan to be present at: the following Major Shows

Fort Worth Steer & Swine Show

? San Antonio – not sure if will go both waves, depends on who will go, there will be major changes with this show next year.

Houston – Steer, Sheep and Goat Shows

Houston – Swine Show – this is spring break- I may only be there for one wave.

I am no longer being a travel agent.  I have a few rooms at select places; these will basically be for students that go with me, no parents along.  If you do this as a family project (which I hope most of you do) you need to take care of lodging yourself.  It has become increasingly harder to book multiple rooms, it is easier if people do their own thing, group rates don’t mean much anymore.

I as well as the administration at Fort Elliott strongly advise parents to attend stock shows whenever possible; most schools in present times require at least one parent to attend.  However, we understand because of our geographic location that may not always be possible, we will continue to work with the student – teacher approach as long as possible.

I feel it is important to not limit the number of shows or where we go, but to do so on a year to year basis.  Different students, different judges, and changes at shows should be what determine the goals for the year for the animal project season.

Call me anytime!                              662-4372 cell                      School   375-2454

If the freshman find this, they can turn it in for extra points! RUMPELSTILTSKIN
